Hey, BookBirdz followers… Happy Fall to you all! Here in Hawaii, the leaves don’t change color, but it does rain more often- the perfect book reading weather! Speaking of which, I happily present to you an end-to-September guest book review, by 14-year-old Shelby Gresch. The Summer of Letting Go by Gae Polisner is one of those amazing books that can be both heart breaking, and heart warming at the same time. In one life-changing summer, Francesca (Frankie) Schnell meets a little boy named Frankie Sky, with a remarkable resemblance to her deceased brother, Simon, and her whole world changes. It’s been four years since Simon’s death, and Francesca can’t let go of the pain… or the guilt. But with Frankie Sky’s help, Francesca learns to love, but let go, and to forgive, but not forget. Amidst the heartbreak, worry, and fear in Francesca’s life, Frankie Sky is her light, and she’ll never be the same.
I love this review so much. Thank you.
