True Grit by Charles Portis

Here is a terrific guest book review, written by Makaiao M., age 14.

download (3)True Grit is a book about a young girl named Maddie who lived in the 1800s. Her dad was murdered, but she was determined to avenge his death. When she found out that he was killed by his own friend, she then realized she had to take action. At that point, I thought that she was a really brave or stupid kid. Then comes a Texan man, who was also going after the murderer. The Texan man didn’t want Maddie to come with them, so they attempted to ditch her, but when she finds them again, they just accept that she won’t give up. Right there I was thinking that she is really determined. I’m not going to give away the ending, but I will say that is is a book worth reading.
