Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Of Mice and Men is a classic, deep novel. Its raw, controversial theme was appealing to me (it also was a book assigned by my English teacher). George and Lennie are opposites, George being small and sharp, whilst Lennie is lumbering and mentally disabled. The two are the mightiest of friends, and their tale is captivating and real. Read and expect to be deeply moved as the two friends struggle for a living in the Salinas Valley. George always felt he had to protect Lennie until the very end, but does taking a life truly bring freedom to either side?

  1. Mightiest of friends is a great way to describe them, Tori. This book really looks deeply at friendship, with all its complications and responsibilities. These characters stay with you the rest of your life.
